Make A Banner to Support The Troops

This is something everyone can participate in! It would be great as a group activity for any age! To see pictures of banners and the event from previous years click here.

Once again, Soldiers’ Angels is joining World T.E.A.M. Sports for the Face of America bicycle ride honoring military service members wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan. And once again, your help is needed to celebrate the event!

The World T.E.A.M. website explains, "This ride will honor them by actively using sports to help integrate these recently severely injured servicemen and women back into society. We want thank these young men and women for their service and also let them know that they can still be active members of the TEAM." So as with last year, we'd love to have tons of banners to hang in support of the riders--both wounded and non-wounded, signs of gratitude, celebration and appreciation. Banners can be all sizes--from t-shirts to pillow cases, to twin flat sheets (scroll down to see some samples). Banners need to be received by April 22; please email LRoncin@soldiersangels.org for the banner shipping address. After the ride, each rider will choose a banner to take home with them, and any banners left are sent to combat support hospitals in the war zones, Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany, and other medical facilities.

This year the event will be held on April 25 and 26. Participants will include active-duty military personnel, civilians, and the wounded warriors themselves. The ride will cover 110 miles from Bethesda, MD to Gettysburg, PA, with the wounded riding bicycles especially adapted to their injuries. Over 200 people participated last year, and more are expected this year.
