Wounded Warriors Run/Relay & 5K, Canyon Lake

I've driven by one of the RunTex locations in Austin several times recently. They have a big billboard on top of their store for the Run With Heroes. Thinking it may be a run benefiting our military, I checked out the RunTex site. This particular run is actually benefiting first responders. A good cause, to be sure, but not the focus of Soldiers' Angels. I decided to check out their other upcoming events, and I saw the Wounded Warriors Run/Relay & 5K taking place in Canyon Lake, Texas on Saturday, September 18th.

The race seems to be organized by VFW Post 8572 in Canyon Lake.

About This Event

The WWRR is a fundraising fun run dedicated to supporting the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund. The Intrepid National Armed Forces Rehabilitation Center provides military service members who have experienced debilitating injuries with a rehabilitation facility which permits them to remain on active duty if they desire; returning them to their pre-injury level of activity. Our purpose is to raise money for the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, so runners we ask/encourage you to help us in this fundraising effort. We will offer awards for Top Individual and Top Team Fundraisers.

Course Info
The Wounded Warriors Run is an out and back 16 mile run/relay on River Road. The relay will be divided into 4 legs consisting of 4 miles each. Participants also have the option to run the entire 16 miles. The 5K will also be an out and back run on
River Road. Each race will start and end at Canyon Lake VFW Post 8573.

Registration costs vary, depending on what race you sign up for. If running is your thing, check it out. The Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund benefits our Wounded here in Texas, at the Center for the Intrepid next to Brooke Army Medical Center and also in Bethesda, Maryland at the National Intrepid Center of Excellence, adjacent to the new Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. These centers do incredible work in rehabing our Heroes!
