Soldiers Angels' Hug A Hero Day - Update
Austin Angel Becky Bourtzos has been doing a fabulous job organizing the "Hug a Hero Day" on Saturday, November 12th There has been a change in time: it is now scheduled from 10am to 1pm.
Please join us as we celebrate America's Heroes, past and present for the sacrifices they have made in the service of our country.
"Hug a Hero Day" is being held at the Frank Fickett Center (12500 North I-35 in Austin). The Boy Scouts Capitol Area Council, along with the Fairfield Inn and Suites, are generously providing the use of their property for the day as well as sponsoring this event! This event is completely free to the public: no admission and free parking!
We will have active duty troops as well as veterans in attendance from all branches of the military to hug, shake hands with and thank for their service to our country! Military vehicles and GI Johnny (ARMY mascot) will be there and other kid friendly vendors too.
There will be letter and card signing tables. We will be accepting donations of items for care packages, We'll have fun activities for the kids, too! Music, food and fun! And, Heroes to hug! Who could ask for more?
We could still use additional volunteers. We also still need donations of bottled water for the volunteers and paper for the kids' crafts.
So, if you have help get some of the items she's still looking for, or you can donate your services, please contact Austin CNC Lisa Luhrman at cnctx06(at)gmail(dot)com. She will be able to connect you with Becky.
